What Dalva knows—and why.

Your family conversation

The model-backed setup is available only after sign-in. Up to five short answers are sent to Google Vertex AI through its EU endpoint so Dalva can progressively propose a child’s first name, an explicitly written birth date, one supported school, your preferred reminder window, relevant family focus areas and an exact first thought.

The raw conversation is not saved as a household or server-side conversation record. You review every proposed detail before anything is written to your household.

What the model cannot decide

Gemini cannot buy, book, message, change your calendar or create durable family facts by itself. Dalva’s own code validates its small structured response. Dates, permissions, reminders and external actions remain controlled by explicit rules and your choices.

Medical details, diagnoses, treatment, exact addresses, work schedules and calendar event content are not part of onboarding interpretation.

AI in everyday capture

When a signed-in adult writes a family thought, Dalva may send that one thought to Google Vertex AI in the EU to recognise a small action shape. Dalva does not send a household profile, capture history or calendar content with it, and it keeps its own local fallback if the model cannot help.

What is kept

Dalva stores the details you confirm, the thoughts you deliberately capture, sourced family timeline dates, your own reminder timing and a small set of purpose-bound remembered facts. Household memory shows why each fact exists and lets an adult correct or delete it.

Leaving Dalva

A one-adult household can permanently delete its account and family data from Account and privacy. Dalva removes the household data, local calendar credentials and matching sign-in identity. Shared households are not erased by one adult: safe departure from a shared household is still pending.

Processors and location

Dalva runs on Google Cloud. Authentication uses Firebase/Google Identity, model interpretation uses Google Vertex AI in the EU multi-region, and transactional email uses Resend. Primary application data is hosted in Google Cloud’s Belgium region. This does not mean every provider control-plane record or email stays in Belgium.
